I painted this on a giant canvas that Paula found in the hard rubbish, in pristine condition. It had a kind of bizarre grey abstract painting on it, with a lot of texture. I painted over the grey but made the most of the texture. I’m really happy with how it turned out. I’m in love with the colours here. I think it would add vibrance and warmth to any room. It reminds me of what I think the Garden of Eden would look like – bright and happy and beautiful. I’ve called it Secret Garden, a way to bring a bit of nature inside. It’s on exhibition at Dench Bakers (Nth Fitzroy, Melbourne) until 4 June if you’d like to see it in the ‘flesh’.
